Embark on an exhilarating fishing adventure in the breathtaking waters of Kauai with Makai Sport Fishing on our comfortable 45′ fishing boat, Piikea. Our skilled crew is ready to help you catch Marlin, Ahi Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Ono, or Aku, our most common pelagic fish found in these waters. If you are fortunate enough to catch one of our less common fish like the Rainbow Runner, Short-billed Marlin, Sailfish or Barracuda, this will only add to the excitement of your fishing adventure. Meet Robert & Sean
The Owners of Makai SportFishing
Makai Sportfishing is a locally owned and operated company fueled by a shared passion for the water and deep-sea fishing. Robert grew up fishing with his father and friends, while Sean spent his childhood scuba diving with his family, both always drawn to the ocean. Our journey began as a dream when Robert and Sean became fast friends in 2010, and when Robert and his father took Sean fishing on their personal boat, he was instantly hooked (pun intended!).
As we explored fishing charters with other companies, we quickly realized we had a vision for our own operation. Robert was eager to fulfill his father’s dream of running a charter boat, and in 2017, we made that dream a reality. We purchased Piikea, our fishing vessel, and began the process of rebuilding and customizing her for Kauai’s exciting waters.
After two and a half years of hard work, Piikea hit the water in early 2019, ready to take our guests on the deep-sea fishing adventure of a lifetime.

Piikea is a spacious 45-foot SportFisher Uniflite, originally constructed in 1978 and completely refurbished in 2017. As one of Kauai’s larger fishing vessels, it features an air-conditioned cabin, a marine toilet, a flying bridge, and exceptional stability, ensuring a more enjoyable fishing experience.
